The School Council is a forum of pupils who contribute to helping the school achieve its ambition of Raising Achievement.
The job of the Year representative involves various skills: the ability to listen to others, and represent their views; the ability to see the needs of the school; the ability to report back about meetings.
We meet at least once every half term. Occasionally we put extra meetings in to cope with busy times.
The School Council is made up of representatives of pupils from Years 7 - 11. Up to 4 people from each Year Group are chosen through an interview type process to be on the School Council for one year. Mrs Morton is the teacher who guides the School Council. Mr Fugill and Mr Long attend as often as they can.
Pupils who are interested in being a member of the School Council should look out for posters which go up in June about the chance to become a member. You will then write an application which explains why you want to be a council member, and what you would do to represent pupils in your Year and help the school. The current council will then access this and select the pupils to make up the next council.
A new Chairman and Vice - Chairman are then elected out of the previous council, with a Treasurer and Secretary elected out of the newly formed council
