65.4% of students entered gained a higher level pass at A*-C whilst almost every student (97%) gained at least 5 passes at A*-G. The proportion of entries getting grades A-A* was 20%.
There has been concern in the national press that GCSEs were improving at the expense of Maths and English. This year Arnold Hill again gained its highest pass rate ever in these subjects. 54% gained 5 or more A*-C passes including both Maths and English and nearly all students entered gained a qualification in both subjects.
Robin Fugill Headteacher said: “This is the best yet! The overall result for the school is important because it represents individual student success. We have focussed strongly in the last three years to raise achievement. This is now having impact and it is fantastic that more young people at Arnold Hill, than ever before, are gaining higher qualifications. Parents and students can be assured that we will be relentless in trying to improve the success of our young people even further.”
